Happy Girl Gang Appreciation Day!

May I kick off this blog by saying Thank You Ban.do for putting this holiday in my monthly calendar!  I would have never known this day actually was celebrated had it not been beautifully shaded blue (huh?) in my monthly calendar view!  But, despite the day being in a shade more commonly known for boys, I won’t let that distract the fact that there seems to be a new day of the year I should be looking forward to: Girl Gang Appreciation Day!

I tried to get some context to how this day became one now earmarked as an official day of celebration but Google and Wikipedia both failed me on this.  I did find, however, Urban Dictionary’s definition of girl gang: “those fearless ladies who exude self-confidence and help build their fellow sistas up, not tear them down” – I am liking that!  But, I think Chelsea Handler may have said it so well recently when sharing:

“We can eliminate the competitiveness that has been imposed upon us because we are treated as a minority and have been taught to tackle, rather than climb.”

So, with this in mind … here are a few things I thought would make my, and hopefully your, Girl Gang Appreciation Day fulfilling.

The Girl Gang Conversations.

Jenni Brown, co-founder of Prim’d Marketing, has worked with business owners for years in helping them achieve the best version of themselves.  Her focus has always been seeded with “diving deep into the importance of living in integrity with our values,  how to get really clear on what our values are, and staying in touch with them on a day-to-day basis.”  Jenni has created a “Getting Clear On Your Values & Living In Alignment” podcast that I feel you may really enjoy.  I know I did!  So, why not spend some time for yourself on Girl Gang Appreciation Day and get back to nurturing your best self … for you and your girl gang!

Join A Girl Gang.

Emma Watson and Sheryl Sandberg are two top favorite Girl Gangsters.  Are they highly known for their feministic platforms, yes.  But, what I admire most from what they have embodied and enriched is the unrelinquishing push for women to support women.

Get Your Girl Gang Strut Going.

I have a humor demon living in me at all times, and when seeing this I just couldn’t stop myself! So, now that is out of my system … enjoy your strut ladies 🙂  I hope you if even for a brief moment today you remember the power in building up one another versus the opposite, and that you reignite any role you want in being a member of the Girl Gang!

Lots of love lovely ladies!  XOXO, Bridgette
