I don’t want to go so far as saying my exercise goals are just “New Year Resolutions” because in all frankness I have been exercising for years … and I have understood the importance of it to my overall well-being. BUT … (there always is one, isn’t there!) … I want to try something different this 2017 year that I have never done before. I want to share my activity results as each week transpires … almost like an exercise diary.
- Determine If This Keeps Me Accountable. Why am I doing this? There are 3 reasons I am doing this: I am curious if this will have any positive influence for me to show up more than what I’m doing today. I often find as my year progresses schedules change … stressful circumstances go thru the cycles of up-and-down … regimes require adjustment … and, when these dynamics occur my exercise activities tend to be one of the first things that move to the bottom of my daily to-do list. I hate that I do that. So, this is me trying to help break that habit of putting my exercise and health secondary to other things.
- Have A Place To Record Results. I have never kept a record of days I work out, or what exactly I did. I guess I don’t HAVE to, but I WANT to! I am curious just what my activity looks like … in a comprehensive view.
- Evaluate My Growth. This is me being my usual optimistic self, but I have the vision that by the year’s end I will be healthy than today! I want to be able to sit back and read my journey … and this blog post will be my journal of reflection.
I will be chronicling the following:
- My Apple Activity Snapshot. Apple’s Activity app is what monitors my moves, standing, and exercise data. This is represented in the Apple app by three rings that display my results in achieving goals associated with these specific activities, every day. This lets me see a complete picture of my activity, including weekly and monthly overviews. I am going to share my weekly stats thru a screenshot snapshot. The events the app will track are:
- My Stand Stat
- My Exercise Stat
- My Move Stat
- A Reflections Entry. Because I am aiming to achieve more mindfulness in 2017, one way I’d like to build this habit is in taking the opportunity to evaluate my weekly activity and reflect on any thoughts that may have consumed my mind. Some ideas that come to mind are anything I am proud of that I achieved or did … any injuries … or whatever else comes to mind on the topic of my physical activity.
- Numbers. I am getting a little out of my comfort zone, but I think it makes sense to declare my goals on my body stats and offer monthly updates to how these are coming along … good, or bad!
2017 HEALTH GOALS.
- Exercise 5 Days A Week. My preference is to mix it up between cardio, yoga, and strength training. We’ll see how it transpires!
- Achieve 18% BMI.
- Achieve Recovery From Rotator Cuff Injury.
- Achieve Recovery From Left Hip Injury.
- Sustain No Additional Physical Injuries.
Well … I guess it’s time to get going with this 🙂 I have no particular expectations but I am pretty excited about doing this.
